1. Acknowledgement

It sounds very catchy! Nonetheless, what exactly is an interactive lecture?

How it would be better to use this method for students who are taught in the traditional pedagogy? Simultaneously, what are the key benefits of interactive learning methods that teachers and parents take from it?
When our entire ABS Institute team meets at the ' RoundTable' monthly, to clarify the purpose of our Institute's improvement and optimization strategy for Machine Learning Systems (LMS), we have agreed on the purpose of developing. As we said that, the interactive lessons will be created to give students (even so adults who love to life long learning) the most comprehensive experience for Distance learning/Online Learning. Our solution is not merely instruct students on a theoretical, take quizzes and marked their scores. Then again, we would like to provide Interactive Learning with interactive exercises and simulate lectures through real-life experiences. Utilize the Interactive course aims to helps learners easily back up all the core knowledge that they have received. Our product development team ABS Institute believes that the concept of this teaching method is to ensure that learners fully absorb the information rather than just teaching them to remember the raw knowledge.

2. Contents

In the E-learning/LMS system development global market, we have numerous options for the process of the Research - Design - Optimization of the Learning machine system. However, in order to build an interactive lecture, firstly we need to have a better overview of where the core is for us to build, we compare the Interactive Classroom to a Commercial Apartment, and if we would like to build a new apartment entirely. 

We must have call the landlord to buy a land, seek a project contractor and finally, hire a construction vendor. So different from the town house, we cannot sell commercial apartments to customers directly, we need a professional Sales team to help us offer all the apartments for sale to customers. Due to all the activities had operating according to a complete and logical structure, then again the interactive lecture of the LMS system that we are mentioning about to give below will also be systematized. 

The following we recommend to you, there are: 
  • H5P Interactive Lecture Development Tool; refer to the LMS model that has been researched and applied from two U.S and A.U.S Research Institutes
  • Virtual server models (Google Cloud; Amazon Web Service) 
  • To build a Learning Machine System's software.

3. 1.1 - Course presentation feature

Licensed teaching experience at American universities such as the University of Houston, I understands that the traditional course presentation is probably something most professors are familiar with. It usually involve going on a slide presentation in linear lines in a team that have a few members do-not-so-enthusiastic, I means students, visiting professors. Overall the course interaction was very limited. Therefore, when our Marketing team present, pitch the interactive course in front of corporations and investors. I have encouraged the team to change theirs mind, instead of present by text normally, our team have to really invest ideas into infographic, sound and bite-sized contents for visual presentation, detail orientation, key phrases (keywords) then we could express well. As well as the issues like reporting bugs during the use of the aids intuitive as Microsoft tools. On the other hand, when we accessing and trying out the H5P tool, the course presentation slide content can be edited by the ABS Institute product design team in web browser; and active file types (data) The course presentation includes: author-specific administration tools, based on drag and drop *WYSIWYG.


The course presentation is compiled by the author and used in a variety of teaching ways, included in presentation tool for use in an interactive classroom or as a game, where the navigation is replaced by navigation buttons on top of the slide to allow users (students) to participate in the E-Learning course to make multiple choice choices and view the results of their selections by themselves. After a quarter of testing this feature, ABS Institute surveyed users and received remarkably feedback that: Our team's H5P course presentation feature has made it possible for learners (E-Learners) to experience the course visually, interesting. The experiment with the new interactive learning materials and test, check their memory and knowledge in the Course Presentation.


4. 1.2 - Interactive Video

Did you realized that we were attracted by (shorts) videos?


Video has become an integral part of the education, it provide an important content delivery tool in a lot of E-Classes; Hybrid-Classes. To assess the effectiveness of using video as an enhanced educational tool, we consider about three of factors:

  • How to manage the perceived load of the video
  • How to maximize student engagement with video
  • Methods to promote active learning from videos


More over, we also review the literatures related to each of these principles and suggests to you that the practical ways professors/teachers can use these principles when using video as an educational tool.


Instead of assign to your students only watching yours lecture video like tell them: "Hey guys, today we are watching a movie on Netflix." It does not works at all! 

That's why ABS product development team asked me: "Why the lecture videos couldn't be interactive?"


In addition to testing H5P Video (pilot), the ABS team assessed that the interactive quality of H5P Video was really diversity than normal videos. Specifically, H5P videos have additional features to add useful interactive activities such as: Toolbars in a falling tree diagram including: Definitions, Images/Symbols, Charts, Fill in the blanks, True/False questions and multiple choice questions. 


In particular, all quizzes that support interactivity on H5P Interactive Videos can switch to another part of the video based on user input. Interactive metric summaries are added at the end of the H5P video lectures. 


So on, it can be said that up to this point, the product development team of ABS Institute has implemented quite well the interactive video feature created and edited with the H5P creation tool in a standard web browser.


5. 1.3 - Microphone H5P

Come up next, our's product development team continuously asked many questions related to the keywords "interactive" "interactive teaching and learning" "interactive lecture" "interactive distance learning" ...etc. 

At that moment, we felt this was a good sign when we heard the best question asked by a team member: โ€œIf we have presented by the Interactive Video. So why don't we experiment with how to exchange ideas/statements in our voice in real-time?"


"Yeah! The time our team just viewed each other via the Microsoft Team screen, do you miss us?" โ€“ An other member make a joke.


Create your own questions, give your feedback and send feedback requests to teammates/members who are learning at the same course in the group. Instead of answering boringly by typing on the keyboard. The H5P Microphone feature helps all departments of ABS Institute had a noisy afternoon when the Product department asked the Sales department a question via the Microphone feature; The Marketing department asked the Customer Service department questions andโ€ฆ everyone asked me in their own voices. 


Answering, discussing, reporting the daily tasks with your own voice, it has made ABS Institute's team more cohesive, when there are a controversial, a voice from colleague make you easily sympathize with each other, thanks to hear each other's voices. To be honestly, not everyone presents ideas in well-written, like some of you have good linguistic intelligence. Similarly, in the interactive classroom and to create an effective interactive teaching and learning environment. We recommend that you should have try the Microphone feature H5P โ€“ Speak the Words set.


6. 1.4 - Virtual Tour 360*

As we said at the beginning, that nowadays a student/student can start the morning learning about the works of a famous writer in Literature book; and end with a visit to the Museum of Technology in a certain shopping-entertainment complex in the city. 

  • Suppose, it's... what if it rains?

Virtual reality game devices (Virtual Realistic Game - VR Game) are one of the items that are hunted by members of the ABS Institute for a "discount-hot deal" that is quite hard, takes a lot of time and effort to follow. Follow famous brands. 


However, we discovered that the H5P also rolled out a Virtual Tour feature. Basically, instead of a normal destination image, which we often see on social networks, TikTok etc. then in H5P 360 images (rectangles that can be navigated in place and rotated) can be supplemented with interactive activities such as explanations, moves, audio and even questions or similar videos. Images can also be linked together to give the user the impression of moving between environments or between different perspectives within the same environment, thanks to this 360 tour, Shows & Tell every Friday of our's company has more topics to share, enjoy and have fun after a stressful working week. To make it easier to relate, you can imagine this feature similar to the Panorama feature of a smartphone.


7. 1.5 - Book Interactive

Now the reading skills also need to be upgraded and if reading can also be interactive, why we do not run a prototype product of the Book Interactive H5P feature? 


Based on the experience of managing 200 employees, we understand that nobody want to accumulate new knowledge by reading, it's a old-fashion way and boring. At ABS Institute, people in the Product Development group prefer to Listening and Debating while those in the Customer Success or Marketing groups prefer to see new information/knowledge with visual images/information and the aesthetic. 


Therefor, if your staff has as many personalities as our's staff, somewhere you'll want to try the H5P Interactive Books feature on your self-hosted website, you can make a Screen Recording Video, instructing its staff to download the book with the download button; and ask the Administrator /Editor / Documentary / Blog of your company's website to periodically upload useful and interesting articles and information, in order to meet the need to hone your skills/knowledge knowledge for our staff.


8. 2.1 - Refer the LMS model of the Moodle Research Institute

Initially, we would like to explain what each of these names stands for. 


Moodle is an acronym for the English phrase Modular Object-Oriented Dynamic Learning Environment, roughly translated as Dynamic Learning Environment - Object Oriented Module Learning. As a software system for a system training management system, this platform is very useful for programmers (IT), developers (Developer) and teachers (Professor/Teacher).




Because Moodle's open source system has many features that are necessary and unique to an online training system, Moodle is built in segments, and it is easily extended by adding extra components, and it allows the development team to exploit many *authoring tools in the world. 


The number of registrations using the Moodle LMS website in 242 countries worldwide, as of 2022 is 179,000 pages. In which, countries that have developed strongly in education such as the United States, especially North America, Central America and South America have registered statistics of Moodle sites up to > 13,876 sites. While in places with low educational and human development such as Asia, or India, there are only 11,693 sites. The number of users (users) across continents as of June 2022 is 318 million users, which is a spectacular statistic that proves the usefulness, connectivity, user-friendliness of Moodle LMS.


9. 2.2 - Refer to the LMS model of the Open EdX

A significant difference between Moodle and Open edX is that Open edX was not founded as a Moodle Research Institute, then again it's rather as an LMS-based software project developed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Massachusetts Institute of Technology). This project is called Open edX. Until 2021, Open edX will again be transferred to the Center for Imagined Learning (CRIL), a non-profit organization founded by Harvard University and the private Institute of Technology MIT with the proceeds of the purchase this project again.




According to the latest statistics of Open edX, an online learning platform that allows programmers (IT), developers (Developers) and teachers (Professor/Teacher) to maintain a diverse set of settings, includes fully hosted learning websites open to public courses and 350 different versions run by institutions of all sizes. 


As we mentioned above, the founders and developers of Open edX include: Private Institute of Technology MIT, Harvard University, company 2U (parent company of edX) with 2U vision and edX cooperation. Together to bring affordable, high-quality education to more than 40 million learners worldwide. The Open EdX marketplace also has partners that provide different services to members in different continents, countries with different native languages that can run their own instances of Open edX LMS in >100 languages in the world. 


In 2022, Open edX statistics they have expanded the scale of registration of online courses, on the Open edX platform from 155,000 users up to 40 million users from 196 countries (the author found that the number This is also approximately Moodle) and they have gathered >6 million students officially registered for credit-supported or credit-eligible online courses to receive authentic degrees/certificates from reputable Universities and corporations in the world like Harvard, IBM etc. Open edX has successfully attracted talent โ€œOutside the United Statesโ€ by 3,500 online training/sharing/classroom programs across 30 fields with countless future career fields.


10. 3.1 - Google Cloud

We suggests you a virtual server system (Cloud); is a virtual server sold as a service by an Internet hosting service. GCP (Google Cloud Platform) delivers higher productivity achieved through agile access to innovation; we can assign tasks, check tasks and meet with employees anywhere we work; the infrastructure is increasingly improved and expanded to many continents, the future proof that Cloud will be more popular. 


We also believe that because during my eight years running ABS Institute, we confirm it providing a server environment that allows our's company to connect cloud services with a major focus on microservices architecture. 


More over, it has powerful data analysis capabilities; cost-effective because Google regularly has a policy of giving credits to businesses on-cloud, along with many long-term discount programs; you can also store large amounts of data and LMS products at GCP.


11. 3.2 - Amazon Web Service

The second one we would like to recommend you use Amazon Web Services (AWS), although up to this time it does not popular like Google Cloud Platform (GCP). 


On the other hand, according to all the customer reviews, we find that the total cost of owning a virtual server of Amazon Web Service is also very affordable if we compared to any other / dedicated server; in addition, AWS provides billing and management center services; combine data-provisioning and enable your business to deploy your applications in multiple regions of the world with the blink of an eye. 


So whatever yours choice, before deciding on GCP or AWS, it's a good idea to understand what kind of features your organization needs and the annual budget your company wants to pay for it (because it is long term). Don't forget that the right cloud service provider helps your organization achieve its business goals by: Elevating your organization's performance.


12. Conclusion

Like all of you, the author - was originally a Coach specializing in soft skills training in management and finance. We know that the ways professionals think about education today have completely changed compared to professionals centuries ago, and this is largely due to innovations in technology.


Thanks to the digital revolution, it has never been easier to add some interactive elements to a normal school day. It's never been easier to elevate subjects or activities to give some real-world examples, practice skills, and most importantly have fun.
