4. 1.2 - Interactive Video

Did you realized that we were attracted by (shorts) videos?


Video has become an integral part of the education, it provide an important content delivery tool in a lot of E-Classes; Hybrid-Classes. To assess the effectiveness of using video as an enhanced educational tool, we consider about three of factors:

  • How to manage the perceived load of the video
  • How to maximize student engagement with video
  • Methods to promote active learning from videos


More over, we also review the literatures related to each of these principles and suggests to you that the practical ways professors/teachers can use these principles when using video as an educational tool.


Instead of assign to your students only watching yours lecture video like tell them: "Hey guys, today we are watching a movie on Netflix." It does not works at all! 

That's why ABS product development team asked me: "Why the lecture videos couldn't be interactive?"


In addition to testing H5P Video (pilot), the ABS team assessed that the interactive quality of H5P Video was really diversity than normal videos. Specifically, H5P videos have additional features to add useful interactive activities such as: Toolbars in a falling tree diagram including: Definitions, Images/Symbols, Charts, Fill in the blanks, True/False questions and multiple choice questions. 


In particular, all quizzes that support interactivity on H5P Interactive Videos can switch to another part of the video based on user input. Interactive metric summaries are added at the end of the H5P video lectures. 


So on, it can be said that up to this point, the product development team of ABS Institute has implemented quite well the interactive video feature created and edited with the H5P creation tool in a standard web browser.
